The 12th annual Summer String Summit took the stage July 9 at the Kenneth Ford Theatre in Weed CA, and July 16 at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley CA. Workshops ran from July 6-12. Get workshop application info HERE.
These concerts are the musical fruit of the Mt Shasta Music Summit, which gathers musicians of all ages from around the world who share a dedication to acoustic music, for a week of workshops and musical exploration.
The 2016 concerts will feature Roy (Futureman) Wooten (of Bela Fleck & The Flecktones), Indian Violin Maestro Kala Ramnath, Profound Folk Master Jody Stecher, Sean Watkins (of Nickel Creek fame), Bass virtuoso Paul Kowert (of Punch Brothers, Dave Rawlings & Gillian Welch), Appalachian Music Master John Herrmann, Guitar Genius and Composer Scott Nygaard, Chambergrass Innovators The Bee Eaters, and literally dozens of other current and future acoustic music luminaries, hosted by 6-time Grand National Fiddle Champions Tristan and Tashina Clarridge. Over the past decade, the String Summit has earned a reputation as an evening of epic proportions, each July uniting a staggering array of legendary and innovative performers from the worlds of bluegrass, jazz, Irish, old-time and music for an evening of music that will take the audience on a stunning cross-genre journey, with many special guests and spontaneous collaborations. This lineup isn't to be found anywhere else in the world.
